The standard of care that I am trying to attain in counseling is truly client-centered. I believe that the counselor should be honest, fair, firm, and most importantly understanding. The client will be the lead source (be the basis and deciding voice) in

I, as your therapist, will guide you through all of the rough issues that come in your life. You will decide which ones to work through first, second, and so on. I will be there right beside you as you work to become your “best self.”

Clients should work towards positive attachment in their lives (personal relationships, groups, ideas, & connections).
Clients should continually work on their personal, positive identity (what they do and say, who they are – their character).
Perhaps most importantly, clients must work on positive, personal regulation (self-control, especially when it comes to their thoughts, and things they can or cannot control).
